Taliaris Lake

Taliaris Lake, Carmarthenshire
Taliaris Lake, Carmarthenshire.
Taliaris Lake is so uplifting because it is so unexpected - walking along the forestry track there is nothing around you that even hints at its existence. Years ago the area was re-planted with conifers, and it is only now, as these trees are being cleared, does its glory have a chance to reveal itself one again.

Taliaris Lake is man-made. At its northern end the stone ruins of an old boathouse stand testament to an elegant former life as part of the old Taliaris Park Estate.  However the sounds of waterside parties and privileged laughter, that would once have drifted across the water, have today been replaced by silence and solitude - a peace only broken by the indignant protests of  grey-lag geese, or the explosive rattle of a dab-chick from somewhere within the reed beds.
